Evaluating My GAME Plan Progress

As I think more and more about my "goals" for my game plan, that this will be an on going process that is ever changing. I think that I will always be growing and changing what I am doing in my class. I think that this goes for all teachers that care about their students growth and development. The use of pedometers is a PE setting can help to motivate students and can also help students with there own goal setting when it comes to fitness. I also think that using pedometers is a great way to teach our students about respect and responsibility. They have to use them in the correct way so that they will be able to be used for a while. I think that I have some good ideas on how to use pedometers but by no means do I know everything or have every idea. This is where collaborating with other PE teachers comes into play. As teachers we steal ideas from one another all the time. If someone has something good, take it and use it. Again, I think that this is an ever-changing process. I am sure that it will be modified from year to year and even class to class. I think that this process is what makes good teachers.

  1. I appreciate your reflection in this post. I think it is so true that the more we can borrow and adapt lessons and information from our colleagues the better off our students will be. I have learned so much that I have borrowed and adapted from colleagues in this program.

Does your school already own pedometers for student use? Have you created a plan for acquiring these? Do you have a pedometer that you love and hope to use?

  2. Rachel - I am lucky enough to have 30 pedometers. The students love using them and are motivated by them. We use Digiwalkers, which is a brand of pedometer.
